In tracking the performance of the benchmark, the investment manager invests similarly to the benchmark through a combination of quantitative and discretionary approaches. Using market and economic sector analysis and statistical models, the investment manager may over- or underweight certain benchmark’s constituents and may invest in securities which are not benchmark’s constituents (Optimized sampling).
