ABO Energy reports that business progressed as planned in the first half of 2025. After-tax profit in the first six months of the 2025 financial year was 9.6 million euros, slightly below the previous year's figure (11.4 million euros). In view of numerous projects ready for construction and positive momentum, particularly in the German wind market, the management confirms its forecast in the range of 29 million euros to 39 million euros (previous year's result: 25.6 million euros) for the entire financial year. Like the previous financial reports, the 2025 half-year financial statement is available on the website in German: https://www.aboenergy.com/de/unternehmen/geschaeftsberichte.html
A short version with the Profit and Loss Statement, and the Balance sheet is available in English here: https://www.aboenergy.com/en/company/annual-reports.html

“Electricity prices have fallen in many countries, while at the same time the supply of renewable energy projects is growing,” reports Alexander Reinicke, the managing director responsible for corporate finance. "As a result, our margins have fallen in some markets, as expected.” In order to maintain the company's profitability at a good level, ABO Energy is implementing a cost reduction and efficiency programme. The growth in the number of employees seen in recent years has been halted. In the coming months, the company will use fluctuation to reduce its workforce. Instead of hiring new colleagues, the focus is now on internal redeployment and restructuring. With a slightly reduced workforce, the management aims to capitalise a growing volume of projects that will be ready for construction in the coming months and years. To this end, we intend to increase the sale of project rights before the construction phase starts. In addition to turnkey construction, which is to be continued at the previous level, this is the second pillar of the business model. The sale of project rights consumes fewer human resources and accelerates the return on the financial resources invested in project development.

“We realigned our strategy around a year ago and have since been focusing more on the most promising countries and technologies,” says Dr Karsten Schlageter, spokesman of the management board. Concrete results of the strategy are already visible: in the first half of the year, ABO Energy withdrew from project development in Greece and sold its national subsidiary. This transaction took effect on June 30. In July, ABO Energy also signed an agreement to sell a 4.4 gigawatt portfolio of Finnish wind projects, which is scheduled to close in the fourth quarter. “Sales in Finland and Greece, in combination with the efficiency program we intend to implement at all locations, will help us achieve our goals for the current and coming years,” says Dr Schlageter.

Thanks to the commitment of companies such as ABO Energy and many other industry pioneers, wind energy and photovoltaics have established themselves worldwide as the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly power plant technologies. This is leading to growing competition. “We will continue to work on becoming more efficient so that, as a company that is now part of the mainstream energy industry, we can make a growing contribution to the success of the energy transition,” says Dr Schlageter.

Despite the sale of the Greek subsidiary and its 1.5 gigawatt portfolio, the global ABO Energy pipeline of projects under development has continued to grow and now comprises around 34 gigawatts (excluding hydrogen). The entire pipeline is presented on this website: https://www.aboenergy.com/en/company/facts-figures.html

A detailed look at the figures for the first half of the year shows how the ongoing revival of the wind business in Germany, with a growing number of projects ready for construction, is contributing to the company's success. Revenue rose significantly to around 206 million euros (first half of 2024: 123 million euros) and 65 percent of this was generated in Germany (first half of 2024: 58 percent). This increase is mainly due to high revenues from construction services amounting to around 124 million euros (first half of 2024: 39 million euros). However, the volume of invoiced planning services remained largely unchanged between the two half-years: around 72 million euros in the first half of 2025 compared with around 74 million euros in the first half of 2024. The inventory of work in progress fell by around 15 million euros in the reporting period. In the first half of 2024, however, the inventory grew by 64 million euros. This results in a total output of around 191 million euros for the first half of 2025, approximately at the same level as in the previous year (187 million euros).
