Taiwan Inflation Rises To 2.29%

(RTTNews) - Taiwan consumer price inflation accelerated in March after easing in the previous month, data released by the Directorate General of Budget, Accounting, and Statistics showed on Tuesday.

The consumer price index, or CPI, rose 2.29 percent year-on-year in March, faster than the 1.58 percent rise in February.

Food inflation increased to 4.9 percent from 3.98 percent. Housing costs also increased at a faster pace of 2.2 percent versus an 1.8 percent rise seen in February.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose a seasonally adjusted 0.20 percent in March after a 0.24 percent increase in the prior month.

Data also showed that producer price inflation softened to 3.53 percent from 3.69 percent in February.
